Rose scented shortbread biscuits

I recently experimented with lavender shortbread which turned out so well I decided to try a rose version. Seeming Valentines day is nearly upon us I thought they would be quite fitting with their rose petals and I used a heart shaped cutter too!

Ingredients:
2oz sugar
4oz butter
6oz plain flour
1-2 drops rose essence
1 tbsp dried rose petals
dash of milk of combine
extra sugar to sprinkle

Method:
Beat the sugar and butter until light in colour and fluffy. Add in the rose essence and mix thoroughly (make sure not to over do it with the rose essence, it can be quite overpowering). Sift in the flour and add dried rose petals, combine with your butter mix, using a dash of milk to bring together (handling as little as possible). Roll out dough on a counter top that has been dusted with flour. Cut out biscuits using a heart shaped cutter then place on a lined baking tray. Sprinkle with the extra sugar, then leave to rest for 10 - 15 minutes in the fridge.

Preheat your oven to 375F. Bake for 15 - 20 minutes. Allow to cool for 10 minutes on the tray and then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling. Enjoy! ;o)

  1. I love these and the lavender ones, they're gorgeous! Have you ever come across Aroma Panettone? I get mine online. It's what I use to make panettone. It's amazing and transforms many cakes and cookies too!
